Houston,
August 12-13, 2008 – Houston general
contractor SpawMaxwell is at it again – telling
jokes and raising money for a good cause. After
selling out the first show, a second show was
added on Tuesday, August 12, beginning promptly
at 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Improv Club and
Dinner Theater, I-10 @ Silber in Houston. Doors
open for networking at 6 p.m. This year’s
beneficiary once again is Faith in Practice, a
medical mission that serves the poor of Guatemala.
All proceeds from the show – more than
$55,000 raised to date, and more than doubling
the amount raised in 2007 – goes to Faith
in Practice.
“SpawMaxwell has worked side by side with
us for years providing advice, counsel, and resources
to renovate several medical facilities throughout
Guatemala,” said Linda McCarty, Executive
Director of Faith in Practice. “Because
of them our surgeons can safely serve the poor
of Guatemala. SpawMaxwell has provided constant
support not only in assisting us in renovating
these facilities, which represent hope to the poor,
but also in fundraising efforts such as the Night
of Comedy. We are truly blessed by their partnership.”
The SpawMaxwell comedy show puts a different twist
on traditional fundraisers by giving employees
and area businesses a unique and fun way to get
involved in charitable giving. The Night of Comedy
attracted more than 50 Houston area businesses
as event sponsors. By day, the SpawMaxwell
comics are mild mannered construction professionals
(most of the time): Superintendents, project managers,
and coordinators. By night, they emerge as comedic
warriors’ Hell bent on getting laughs. And
SpawMaxwell delivers. See clips from previous shows
