Austin,
Texas, March 18, 2008 – After
conducting more than three months of highly detailed
preconstruction estimating and preliminary pricing,
Austin general contractor SpawMaxwell Company
was awarded one of the Capital City’s largest,
and most complex interior finish projects in
recent history.
Dimensional Fund Advisors, a large California-based
money management firm, announced in early 2006
its plans to occupy one of two buildings at the
Palisades West office project in Austin being developed
by Cousins Properties Incorporated. Construction
on the Class A office building that will house
Dimensional is situated on 22 acres near the intersection
of Capital of Texas Highway and Bee Caves Road.
The building broke ground in May 2007 with completion
expected in fall of 2008. Austin Commercial is
providing general contracting services for the
development’s two base buildings and the
structured parking.
Jane Kalina, Director of Operations for SpawMaxwell
Austin, said the Dimensional contract represents
a significant milestone in the history of SpawMaxwell,
which opened its office here in 2000 and is celebrating
its 10th Anniversary in 2008. SpawMaxwell
specializes in complex, high finish interior construction
for both commercial and healthcare clients. The
company has offices in Austin, Dallas, and Houston
with more than 150 employees and revenue of $200
million in 2007.

company to win the Dimensional project,” Kalina
said. “Our detailed knowledge of the project,
our reputation for delivery of complex interiors,
the support from our regional offices, and our
incredible project team not only helped us win
this project, but will also help us ensure we meet
the high expectations surrounding delivery.”
The
170,000 square feet of interior space features
such amenities as: An internal grand staircase
designed using steel and wood with glass accents
extending four floors; a state-of-the-art auditorium
with advanced audio visual capabilities; cafeteria;
and executive offices designed by award-winning
architect Gensler.
SpawMaxwell co-founder and CEO David Spaw said
the Dimensional contract is a reflection of the
company’s strong relationships within the
local and regional subcontracting community, and
the company’s ability to continually attract
and keep the best construction talent in the industry.
“We’re able to continue to provide
personalized service at the highest level to a
rapidly expanding client base due to the commitment
of our people and our trade partners who consistently
deliver superior quality production,” Spaw
said. “Our people and our trade partners
provide an extra measure of service and attention
to our projects that clients recognize and appreciate.” |
