The Methodist Hospital Research Labs -
Levels 5, 6 and
8
The multi-floor, complex finish for The Methodist Hospital
research labs totaled approximately 72,000 square feet.
The labs were sandwiched between occupied floors of the
hospital, which added a degree of difficulty to the project.
Coordination with hospital staff was essential during
multiple power outages necessary during MEP updates.
Placement of new mechanical chases on the exterior of
the building minimized the impact on hospital operations.
The reconfigured MEP systems introduced versatility for
lab staff through an “infrastructure spine” serving
multiple overhead carriers. The lab design allows work
stations to be relocated and reconfigured quickly in
the future without MEP outages. The lab areas maximize
natural light through open ceiling plans, and interior
corridors utilize lay-in ceilings for a clean look.
