Steve
Mechler
PRESIDENT
Steve Mechler first picked up a hammer at 13-years-old
as a carpenter’s helper during construction
of his family’s home in San Antonio, Texas.
He confirmed his gift for construction at Texas
A&M, graduating in 1981 with a degree in
building construction. After fielding multiple
offers from some of the largest construction
companies in the area, Steve joined Linbeck in
their Houston office. In 1991 Steve brought his
expertise in medical construction to Maxwell
Company Construction and became an officer in
1995. Steve was named Operations Manager at SpawMaxwell
in 2004 and elected President in 2006. After
Tropical Storm Allison hit Houston in 2001, Steve
managed the renovation at the flooded Memorial
Hermann in the Medical Center bringing three
of their critical care buildings damaged by Allison
back online in 39 calendar days.
Steve and his wife Laurie are active in
their church, and have two grown daughters. Steve’s
passion is salt water wade fishing – throwing
topwater lures wherever, and whenever,
he gets the chance. Steve takes a positive
approach to business – and life – always
viewing the “glass as half full.” He
encourages SpawMaxwell employees to get
involved in their community, and supports
many causes with service to:
- Faith In Practice
- Association of General Contractors
